Dedicated to the memory of Janet Dawes

This site is a tribute to Janet Dawes, who was born on July 28, 1945. She is much loved and will always be remembered for her kindness to everyone, her big smile and positivity.  If you would like to donate, we would be very grateful if you could split it 50:50 between Severn Hospice (who provided amazing care for Janet) and Ovarian Cancer Action (the sooner a treatment is found the better so people don't have to suffer from this terrible disease). To do this please click on each charity separately to put 50% in each one - sorry this takes more time but the site does not automatically split a single donation between the two charities. We really appreciate your support - thank you.

Thoughts

As prospective mother-in-laws go I definately hit the jackpot with Jan! She was, and always will be, an inspiration to me in terms of her positivity, optimism, enthusiasm and energy levels (she was fitter than me at double my age, even several years after her diagnosis). My respect for Jan only increased with the way she dealt with her diagnosis: I can't imagine anyone else dealing with such a horrible disease without complaint, showing huge courage and continuing to see each day as a gift. Family was the most important thing to Jan. She was always at the centre of any family gathering, always thinking of ways to entertain the children.  It saddens me that she won't be around to spend time with Theo as he gets older but I'm so glad that she got to spend time with him for the first year of his life, and that he got to meet his grandma. We'll be sure to make sure he knows what an amazing woman she was. Rest in peace Jan xx

Farewell lovely sister, I shall miss you so much. Thank you for the special times we have had together through the years- the great holidays and picnics. August and New Year gatherings with all the family. Watching the little ones grow up. Looking after our Mum as she got older and of course our special walks together over the years. It is impossible to say in a few sentences what you have meant to me, you have been so very special. Thank you for the many many memories you have left. With love from your sister x
